If your child was born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021, they will start reception class at the start of the new school year in September 2025.

Mid-year admissions, we have a number of places available in our Year 5 and Reception classes, please contact the school office if you are moving into the area and considering a school for your child.

Admissions to our School

Wigan LA will only offer ONE school place to each child, please ensure you select St Marie's as your first choice in order to secure the best chance of being offered a place at our school. If you would like to discuss your application please do not hesitate to contact us on 01257 422975.
For each new September intake there are 30 places at school for Reception Year children, if 30 children or less apply for a place ALL children who apply will be offered a place, however if more than 30 children apply, places will be allocated with reference to the school's Admissions policy. Summer Term I Issue 5
16 May 2025
Special Sunday Mass; Please save the date – Sunday 22nd June at 11am
Mass at St. Marie’s Church on this date will be a family Mass. All children, families and staff are
warmly invited. The children will be involved in the Mass. The Year 4 children who will have made their First Holy Communion earlier in the month are invited to wear their special clothes again.
A special mention for Year 6
Well done to our Year 6 children. They have approached this week’s SATS with maturity,
determination and confidence. We are so very proud of them.
Thank you to the staff who have supported them in their journey. The children enjoyed a special
treat this afternoon for doing their best!

Non-uniform day - Friday 16th May
The children can come in their own clothes. We ask for contributions towards the tombola which can be anything related to summer fun activities for example, bats, balls, skipping ropes, small games, beach games, yoyos, colouring books, pens or some sweet treats. Please send your contribution into school on May 16th if you can.

Summer family Picnic - Sunday May 18th 12.30- 2pm
The cost is £5 per family which includes a treasure hunt, some free games and one free turn on the
bouncy castle! (extra turns can be purchased on the day). There will also be a ‘summer fun gift’ tombola and a lucky dip. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and lolly ices will also be available to purchase.

PTFA News
The PTFA are organising a family picnic afternoon on Sunday 18th May from 12 -2.30pm at school.
They need help to plan and run this lovely event. If you can offer any help, either on the day or
beforehand, please come along to a planning meeting on Friday 2nd May at 9am in school (or via a TEAMS link – please contact the office if you wish to join the meeting in this way).Thank you for your ongoing support.

The GIFT team will be speaking at Mass on Sunday 27th April about how we have achieved our Live
Simply award.
Simply award. Afterwards, the children will help serve cakes to raise money for our school garden,
which is an ongoing part of our ‘Live Simply’ pledge.
We are asking for any donations of cakes/biscuits on this day to be brought up to church or into
school on Friday 25th.
Thank you if you can support.
All children and families are warmly welcome at Mass on this day. It would be lovely to see as
many as possible at church.
