St. Marie's Catholic Primary School
Pre-School
Introduction

All children from the age of 3 are very welcome and the experienced staff aim to help all children achieve their potential. Structured play activities are carefully planned and prepared so that all children can access the 7 areas of learning in the most appropriate way. Children work individually, in small and large groups with a balance of adult –led and child initiated activities.

The pre school follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum based on the following principals;

-
Each child is unique and is a competent learner
-
Positive relationships so that children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships
-
The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning
-
Recognising that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and that all areas of learning are equally important and interconnected.
